When Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson and her boyfriend, Dralin Carswell, went to her senior prom on the weekend of April 22, they appeared like they were on their way to a pageant. Honey Boo Boo looked like a pageant queen.
The 17-year-old actress, who previously appeared on Toddlers and Tiaras, wore a dazzling pink sleeveless gown with a fitted bodice that featured an exquisite beading pattern. The skirt of the dress was shaped like a fishtail and began at her knees and flowed all the way down to the ground. While wearing her hair in a high ponytail with long blonde extensions, Alana accessorised her look with ultra-glam pink makeup, a rhinestone necklace and bracelets, and other rhinestone jewellery.
Dralin, who is now 21, went to prom in a much more laid-back manner than most people do. He wore a white polo shirt, black trousers, and a baseball cap; yet, the smile on his face revealed how proud he was to be Alana’s date for the special evening.
The couple decided to forego taking a limousine to prom and instead ride to the event in a horse-drawn carriage, which was a fitting mode of transportation given Alana’s stately appearance in her gown.
Alana took photographs with each member of her family before she and her companion left the house. She appeared for one picture with her mother, June “Mama June” Shannon, and her husband, Justin Stroud. For another picture, the former star of Here Comes Honey Boo Boo posed with her sister, Lauryn “Pumpkin” Efird, and each of her four children. Throughout her mother’s struggles with substance abuse, Alana has resided with her older sister Lauryn. Alana’s older sister was awarded sole custody of the former child beauty queen when she was 16 years old.
The absence of Alana’s older sister, Anna “Chickadee” Cardwell, was particularly notable given that she has been undergoing treatment for stage 4 cancer since January. It was determined that she had adrenal cancer, and she is currently receiving treatment with chemotherapy.
In September of 2021, Alana and Dralin made their romance public on Instagram, making it “official.” Later on, it came to light that while she was 16, he was 20, which caused some of her admirers to express their concern. Alana addressed the issue ten months after she had gone public with her relationship with Dralin.
She stated this to Entertainment Tonight on July 21, 2022. “In our relationship, the two most things that everybody is always talking about is our age gap and definitely because he’s Black and I’m white and we’re an interracial couple,” she said. “In our relationship, our age gap is definitely one of the most things that everybody is always talking about.” Alana followed by saying, “I don’t care because, like, at the end of the day, my sister approves, his mom approves, and we’re happy, so whatever fans got to say or whatever haters got to say I don’t really care.”
