Woody Harrelson Confirms That Matthew McConaughey Is Perhaps His Brother

During an interview on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert,” Woody Harrelson acknowledged Matthew McConaughey’s allegation that they might be brothers, saying “There is some veracity to that thought.”

“We want to go and (do a DNA) test, but it’s a much bigger deal for him,” Harrelson explained. “He feels like he’s losing a father.” But I’m like, no, you’re getting a new father and a new brother.”

Harrelson, like McConaughey, recalled a chat with “Ma Mac, Matthew’s legitimate mother,” in which she told them she “knew…” Harrelson’s father.

“It’s insane. “We had been watching the US team win the World Cup in Greece, and I mentioned something about regrets,” Harrelson added. “‘You know, it’s funny that my father has no regrets,’ I replied. I’ve known Ma Mac for a long time, and she says, ‘I knew… your father.’ And it was the ellipses that bothered or intrigued me.”

Harrelson went on to say that her pause was “filled with innuendo.

Harrelson went on to say that her pause was “filled with innuendo.” Colbert joked that there could have been a “pregnant pause.”

McConaughey said last week on the podcast “Let’s Talk Off Camera with Kelly Ripa” that Harrelson’s father was on leave at the same time his own parents were divorcing for the second time, and that his mother and Harrelson’s father could have met in West Texas.

Similarly, Harrelson informed Colbert that “the year of [Matthew’s] birth, nine months before, she was on sabbatical from her connection with his claimed father, Jim.”

The “True Detective” stars are set to participate in the comedy series “Brother From Another Mother” for Apple TV+, which is based on their own decades-long friendship, which began in 1997 while working on Ron Howard’s “EDtv.”

Harrelson will also feature in the HBO series “White House Plumbers”

Harrelson will also feature in the HBO series “White House Plumbers” with Justin Theroux, who told the Tonight Show that he wouldn’t be surprised if McConaughey and Harrelson were half-brothers. (Both CNN and HBO are owned by Warner Bros. Discovery.)

“I’m not sure if it’s just their slow Southern and Texas drawls or if Texas figures in somewhere,” Theroux explained. “It’s just a way of thinking.” They’re both so delightfully blissfully comfortable all the time.”
